Green Sprangletop is a native, warm season perennial, bunchgrass that is primarily used for grazing and erosion control. It is highly palatable and nutritious to all classes of livestock. Green Sprangletop is extremely drought tolerant. It grows 2 to 3 1/2 feet tall. It is cold and drought tolerant. This is a short lived grass, but because if its fast germination, quick growth and easy establishment, it maintains itself well. Green Sprangletop grows well on rocky sites as well as rocky soils. It is adapted throughout Texas, Southern New Mexico, and Southeast Arizona and Florida
